Day 2 and we set off through the houses in Les Contamines
Our companion for the early part of today's walk
Notre Dame de la Gorge
On the climb up to Refuge Nant Borrant we passed this swift flowing stream
Aiguilles de la Pennaz on the right as the path winds through meadowland
Lunch at the Refuge De La Balme
The path steadily rises away from the Refuge
Our fist encounter with snow on the path up towards the Col du Bonhomme
The well trodden path through the snow
The shelter at the Col du Bonhomme (2329m)
The path across towards the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme
Lac Jovet is on the right hand side of this shot
On this stretch there were lots of snow pockets to cross which were made perilous by holes under the ice melted by the streams flowing beneath the snow
Finally we arrive at the Refuge de la Croix du Bonhomme .....
..... and guess what, a beer!
Now for the descent .....
... and the temperature drops as the clouds roll in
A Marmot scuttles over the path
These two Ibex were quite confident as we walked by
Looking down on Les Chapieux where we stayed overnight in rather cramped accommodation lacking enough facilities for the quantity of occupants
