Portreath Harbour on a lovely sunny morning. Just above the harbour entrance is a small white building called a Huer's Hut where a man watched the sea for signs of Pilchard shoals when this coast landed enormous tonnages of the fish. The shoals suddenly disappeared from this area causing the death of the industry.
Surfers off Portreath Beach are out already taking advantage of the swell from recent windy conditions.

One of the group of Shetland Ponies kept here by the National Trust to keep down the grass, providing short succulent shoots to encourage visiting birds.
Fishing Cove, a haven for Seals to give birth to their young. There must have been close to a hundred of them across the small beach.

A short sharp shower gives rise to this rainbow at Magow Rocks.
Under these sand dunes (Towans in Cornish) lie the remains of what was one of the worlds largest explosives factories during the First World War, and was in use until 1945.

An inclined plane at the explosive factory site, used presumably to haul material up and down the steep slope.
Either rain or hail drops catch the light from the camera flash as the squally wind blows along the beach (the wrong way!) heading for Hayle.
