The route we walked is in green
We were off to an early start
Soon we had to cross the M6, over the footbridge, not as Loz had hoped where she was to stop the traffic for us to walk across the road
The motorway was fairly quiet today
Looking back yesterday's high point, Kidsty Pike, is still plainly visible and continued to be almost until Kirkby Stephen
Limestone pavement
A dry Gill in Smardale
Smardale Fell
The lime kiln at Smardale Fell
The group all together in front having to keep up a good pace today
In the bright sunshine the hills, our constant companions on this stretch, are in sharp relief
The lunch stop near Sunbiggin Tarn
Sunbiggin Tarn under a clear blue sky
Ravenstonedale Moor
The old Smardale Bridge, our stop for drinks
Smardalegill viaduct on the old Stainmore Railway
On the approach to Kirkby Stephen we passed under the Settle - Carlisle railway.
At last we arrive at the Jolly Farmer and a tasty cream tea from Mrs Pepper
