A cool start but the forecast is for an improving day

After being dropped off where we finished yesterday, a short walk through Rossthwaite leads to the approach to the hills.

"It does what it says on the tin"

The path passes between Stonethwaite Fell on the left, and Bull Crag

On the way up the slope towards Greenup Edge we passed 'Fork Gill Falls' - our name for it!

As we climbed up to Greenup Edge the sun came out

Beyond Greenup Edge the ways part, and we took the path to the left to traverse the ridge towards Helm Crag

To the right sun picks out the beck flowing down from the fells, making it resemble its name, Sour Milk Gill

Helm Crag (or the Lion and the Lamb) on a lovely sunny afternoon.

Beneath us lies Grasmere, closely associated with the poet Wordsworth who lived here. The bus was waiting in the village to take us back for a welcome shower and dinner
