The routes taken today. The green easy walk to st Ives from the pub in Zennor, followed by the start of the walk proper from St Ives back along the much more gruelling Coast Path to the Tinners Arms at Zennor.

The tiny Village of Zennor, a pub, a church a couple of farms and some cottages. The building on the extreme left is the Backpackers Hostel and cafe, clean and tidy with good food.

My accommodation for 2 nights, The Tinners Arms, Zennor. They did very good food and when asked if they had any single malt whisky they produced a separate two page menu of dozens, all in stock, so Talisker it was!

There a lots of these abandoned cottages in Cornwall, a testimony to the poverty experienced by the ex miners following the collapse of the tin mining in the area.

The walk proper begins and the weather is perfect. This stretch of coast is littered with a multitude of rocks requiring more mountaineering than walking skills for the most part.

The authorities are replacing wooden bridges in this area with more traditional 'Clapper' bridges.

The Gorse flowers were particularly good this year, perhaps something to do with the long cold winter.

Looking back to Zennor head as the path to the village leads inland. The sea really was that colour!
