The coast path goes right down to the beach and up again to the top of the next hill just to go round the stream which issues out onto the beach, visible from up here. Sigh!

Gorse seems to be the enemy here - apparently it takes over from the grassland reducing the area available to cattle to graze.

Another down and up, this time not quite down to the beach.
Notice that the cliff is now white indicating chalk not the soft red rock of the cliffs to the west.

The signpost at Berry Camp, an ironage hill fort only half of which remains due to erosion.

The Hooken Landslip walk.
Early in 1789 a wide chasm appeared in the cliff top and in March of that year a vast landslip occurred where a large section of cliff slid forward and down to form this section of land. Over the years it has become populated by unusual plants and is a haven for naturalists.

These pretty little yellow flowers grow here.

The jumble of landslip and vegetation combine to form a magical walk.

Eventually the path climbs once more to the clifftop.

A last look at the Hooken Cliffs in the mist of the afternoon.

The town ahead is Seaton and the end of this week's walk. All in all quite a tough week of walking but some beautiful stretches which will last long in the memory.
