Note the tiny kayak pulled up onto the Hartland Quay ramp. It turned out that this was the boat being used by a young Rheumatoid Arthritis consultant, Martin Lee, who was kayaking round the British Isles in an attempt to raise £100,000 for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). He was waiting for the sea to moderate before setting off across the Bristol Channel via Lundy to South Wales, a journey of some 50 miles!
Embury Beacon Iron Age Fort. Over half of this fort has been lost to erosion and before any more disappears over the cliffs archaeologists are investigating the site on behalf of the National Trust.
