Looking back over Corfe Castle from Afflington Wood. The sun passing through some sea mist behind the camera gives the scene a strange orange cast.

At Winspit some Valerian grows next to the path.

Sea kale is found widely in this area, Purbeck sea cliffs being famous as one of the places where it is so common.

The South West Coast Path on to Kimmeridge (beyond the far point) is closed for repairs after several cliff falls along this stretch during the exceptionally wet winter. The diversion takes the walker inland at this point to pass over Swyre Head, obscured by mist on the extreme right of the picture.

The main Encombe House is hidden by trees, only the chimneys are visible.

The Kingston end of the Encombe estate houses a memorial obelisk to Lord Stowell (William Scott), a High Court judge.
